THOMAS MAYO
Thomas Mayo received his bachelor of business administration from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. He then worked on the staff of U.S. Representative Kenneth E. Bentsen for several years. While working for Congressman Bentsen, Thomas attended South Texas College of Law and received his doctorate of jurisprudence in 2001.
Thomas began his legal career as an attorney for a Beaumont defense firm in 2001 becoming a shareholder in 2008. After defending insurance companies and large corporations, Thomas decided he was happier representing individuals rather than corporations. He handles a variety of lawsuits including catastrophic injuries, wrongful death, vehicular accidents, and first party insurance cases. In addition, Thomas has a vibrant Elder Law practice in which he assists clients in all phases of estate and probate planning and Medicaid crisis planning.
Thomas is a member of numerous professional associations and is dedicated to these organizations. As a member of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association, Thomas has spent countless hours defending and protecting the rights of Texans who might otherwise be denied justice. Each legislative session, Thomas donates his personal time advocating for the rights of injured Texans.
Thomas is a devoted husband to his wife Amy who teaches school in Beaumont. Thomas and Amy have two children, Caroline and John Thomas. Thomas is a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and has served in numerous leadership positions such as chairman of the board of trustees, chairman of the stewardship committee, finance committee, and staff parish relations committee. In addition, Thomas served as treasurer and member of the executive board for the Garth House, a child advocacy center that serves Jefferson, Orange, Hardin, and Tyler Counties. Thomas is also a fomer member of the Beaumont Chamber of Commerce Community Advisory Board, a graduate of Leadership Beaumont, a member of Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers, a liftetime member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, and the Houston Rodeo’s International Committee. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, coaching his children’s teams, raising cattle, and hunting.
Thomas is admitted to practice law in the State of Texas, the Eastern District of Texas, the Southern District of Texas, and the Northern District of Texas.
